Yea, Brewdog has been pretty controversial over the years. In the beginning it was a Punk thing and quiet appealing. However over the years they have become less popular and the beer has gone down hill. I use to love Punk IPA and Hazy Jane, but they are no where near as good as they use to be. Martin Dickie did recently left the company, but I thought James Watts stepped down as CEO, but is still with the company. However I could be wrong, or maybe he has now left too.
Cheers Keith

Oh dear time hasn’t been kind to Brewdog and all their lofty ambitions. As of October 2025, they’ve shut a load of pubs with little notice to the staff, the beer was dropped by 2000 pubs. They’ve just sold their forests, got involved in and lost some legal fights which included the Elvis Presley estate. Reneged on their commitment to a staff living wage, disgruntled employees described a management culture of fear and Intimidation. The list goes on and a simple google search will catalogue their demise which culminated in both of the founders leaving the company. It’s a classic case of if it seems too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true. I initially liked the ethos but in my opinion the beers never really matched the hype and that’s the most fundamental thing, a good brew.

Hi Matiss,

Brewdog are certainly a forward thinking company. To invest money to buy a large area of land that once used to be forest and start planting trees is a truly great thing.

There beers are great too, they like to push the boundaries and are not afraid of trying new things.

Thanks for your thoughts

Rob

Wow, I love that. I mean, personally, I've no idea how intense the carbon emissions in the classical brewery is but anything that is carbon negative I want more of. I mean, that's the real longevity approach. And the fact that they are also introducing electric trucks, that's just so incredibly mindful. And then, which is kind of crazy, they also care enough to plant trees. Yeah, this, for sure, is the kind of company that I want to support with my money.

Other than that, the lost lager does sound like something I would love to try. And I'm the kind of person who's typically not into beers. I appreciate you for describing the experience so vividly.

A really great piece. Thank you. :)
