Hi Dave,
I get exactly what you are saying, it really does lack on the bitterness front. I was expecting rich flavours, but although it has those flavours, it is just to subtle across the board. I found it easy drinking, but just to lacking in any oomph. Not your typical German beer, cheers 🙂

Precious little malt in it and it takes the title I had for totally bland beer from Pure Blonde (Pure Bland I call it). It tastes to me like brown-coloured water and although I prefer the lighter carbonated beers like a lot of British beers are, this beer tastes flat.
My late brother used to call this type of beer “holiday-beer”, the sort you can drink all day at Mediterranean resorts without getting tipsy.
I absolutely hate to slag off German beer which in my opinion is the best beer in the world, but this imitation-beer will ruin the excellent reputation German brewers have earned over the centuries.

Hi Brian,

I think it is available at Hop Shop Aberdeen, Fountain Hall Wines in Stonehaven or you may find it in a supermarket. Another alternative is to buy it online, just search Erdinger Dunkel and there are plenty of results. I hope that helps.

Hi Paul,

I haven’t tried any of the Bernard range of beers, although I would like to. Like you said they are difficult to get in the UK. If I spot one I will definitely try it. Looks good beer, a trip to Prague is on the cards one day, so I might have to wait until then.
