In reply to Keith H. There is not much between these beers, but I felt Fix has just that little bit more depth in flavour, although Lou thought Alfa was the better beer. Mythos seems to be the most popular though among most people. Cheers

Been to Crete the last two years in a row and Alfa is so ubiquitous it’s ridiculous. I saw it everywhere – to a much greater extent than Mythos. To me Alfa is like a Greek Pacifico. Not by taste, but because of the niche it serves. Not supporting you order because it’s particularly fully bodied or has much personality. More like what you drink because you’re thirsty, it’s hot, it goes down clean, and it invites drinking more than one in a row. It’s the perfect beer to go with the lamb you’re probably eating for those reasons and because it doesn’t add its own level of drunk in addition to the raki you’ve also got in a carafe on the table.

Mythos is not “totally different”, but to me at least it has a little more personality than Alfa does.

Hi Alan,

I will make sure I get there one day. I love Greece and Kefalonia is on my list, so when I do get there I will definitely visit the brewery. Thanks for the info

The best Greek beer is a micro brewery on Kefalonia ,Kefalonia lager it’s superb and you can visit the brewery
