Crazy Peacock is an American IPA from the Bragdy Twt Lol or Trefforest Brewery located in Pontypridd, South Wales. It is said to hoppy and strong in flavour, but is it any good?
Crazy Peacock is a pleasant enough beer. It pours a light gold with a one finger white foamy top. On the nose it is hoppy with tropical citrus notes and an earthy undertone. The taste is as the nose suggests, hoppy with citrus fruits and a lingering bitter finish. Quite a light IPA which gest 4.0 out of 5.0.
A light IPA with a decent bitterness that lingers.

Crazy Peacock American IPA Review
Crazy Peacock comes in a 500ml brown bottle with an off white label and a peacock, which I assume is crazy. It is brewed with Cascade and Columbus hops, and I think it is also dry hopped with Pacific Gem hops.
So it shapes up to be a pretty hoppy beer and weighs in at a decent but still sessionable 4.8% ABV. Even though I misread it and said it was 4.6% ABV in the video.
So is it any good?
Cracking it open, I pour between 3 glasses as our son Joe has joined us on this review. It pours a light gold with a one to one and a half finger head. There are plenty of tiny bubbles rising up the glass.
The nose is hoppy with tropical citrus notes. Lou and Joe got an earthy undertone too, but I didn’t get that, just plenty of tropical notes.
As for the taste , well it tastes just like it smells, I get hoppy fruity flavours with a nice bitter finish. Lou and Joe didn’t get much in the way of fruity flavours, but mostly a strong bitterness that lingered in the after taste.
We are quite split on this one with Lou and Joe finding too much grapefruit like bitterness and not much else. A strong bitter after taste for both of them. They both scored it 3.8 out of 5.0.
As for me, I think it is a pleasant enough IPA that lacks a strong flavour, I almost get a lager feel from it. However it is hoppy with tropical fruits and a bitter finish, all be it a little light for me. I score it a straight 4.0 out of 5.0.
It feels a quality beer, just light on flavour for me, and too bitter for Lou and Joe. Our palates really disagree on this Crazy Peacock.
Trefforest Brewery
Trefforest Brewery started life in 2015 by Phillip Thomas after leaving the IT industry to persue his dream of brewing beer.
The brewery is officially named Bragdy Twt Lol which kind of translates to Mischevious Fun Brewery. A micro brewery that hand crafts their beers on a small scale to push the taste of real ales.
A proud Welsh brewery that uses the Welsh language in the name of many of it’s beers. However the road has not been easy and the business nearly didn’t survive the flooding of Storm Dennis and the Covid period.
But it is now firmly established again and also has a taproom. Phil has a dream of opening a pub one day too.
Keep going and growing Bragdy Twt Lol.
Twt Lol Beers
The brewery brews a good range of beers mainly with Welsh names that can translate into English. I counted nine beers on their website at the time of writing.
Here are a few..
Tŵti Ffrŵti
Tŵti Ffrŵti or translated Tooty Fruity is a Blonde Bitter. It pours pale in colour and has a distinct fruity flavour from Mosaic and Chinook hops.
Mango and Grapefruit flavours with an underlined bitterness, it sounds like a nice beer. It weighs in at 4.0% ABV. One to look out for.
Glo In The Dark
Glo In The Dark is a Porter style dark ale with coffee notes and a bitter finish. It is brewed with Centennial, Citra, Columbus and Mosaic hops which is unusual for a dark ale.
Not a beer i have tried yet, but some say it is roasty with coffee and chocolate notes and a hoppy bitterness. Sounds okay and weighs in at 4.5% ABV.
Glog
Glog is a copper coloured bitter and is inspired by local folklore where there is apparently treasure buried beneath a hill called Twyn Y Glog.
Brewed with Centennial, Norther Brewer and Waimea hops, it is said to be smooth with a biscuit malt up front and a nutty undertone. A session beer that weighs in at 4.0% ABV.
One I would like to test drive.
Final Thoughts
Trefforest Brewery do make some interesting beers with quirky Welsh names. A brewery that has had it struggles like many, but kept on battling and are now settled.
Crazy Peacock is a decent beer, more old style real ale kind of IPA than a modern citrus busting IPA. I liked it more that Lou and Joe, and I would have it again.
