A brewery born by accident when a whisky distiller approached Master Brewer Dougal Sharp. The idea was to brew and age a beer in cask to taint the barrels with beer.
The whisky distiller would the age their whisky in them. The beer, which was to be thrown away (unbelievable) after its job was complete in the barrels got tasted.
A few of the distillery workers tried the beer and loved it. So the beer was thrown away no more (good). Dougal decided to take advantage of a unique style of beer aged in whisky casks, and Innis & Gunn was born.
