Keo Beer is a Czech style lager from Cyprus, it is brewed in Limassol by the Keo Group and is a beer that has been around since 1951. It is said to be a refreshing, light and pale lager, and it is very popular in Cyprus. But is it any good.
Keo Beer is a pretty good lager, it pours a light straw gold with a half finger head. It is pretty light on the nose too, with just a sweet malt caramel and not much else. The taste is sweet caramel malt leading to a light bitterness. Light and refreshing it gets a rate my beer score of 4.2 out of 5.0.
It does set the world alight, but it’s a well balanced easy drinking light lager.

Keo Beer Review
Keo beer stands in 330ml brown bottle with a bright yellow label with Keo in large red letters. It states it is “Proudly brewed on the island of Cyprus”. It fits nice as a session beer, weighing in at a decent 4.5% ABV.
The beer is described as light and refreshing with a pale golden look.
So is it any good?
Cracking the cap and pouring it into the glass it settles to a light gold with a thin white head which is about half a finger. There are plenty of bubble racing to the top of the glass.
The nose is pretty light like the look, just malty caramel up front that carries a sweetness with it. However that is about it.
There seems to be a theme with this beer because the flavour is also light, but pleasant. though. A sweet malty caramel leads into a slight bitterness.
It is well carbonated in the mouth, but at the same time quite smooth too. I guess I would say it is light refreshing easy drinking beer, although I feel it would be better with a little more bitterness on the finish. For me it scores a pretty good 4.2 out of 5.0.
M’Lady likes it too, saying “It has got that pilsner feel about it, a nice beer, but nothing special” Lou scores it the same 4.2 out of 5.0.
Keo beer is okay, it’s light and refreshing, but probably won’t become your favourite beer.
Our Video Review:
Keo Group
The Keo Group was initially a wine and spirits company established in 1927. The name Keo stands for Κυπριακή Εταιρία Οίνων which translated is Cyprus Wine Company.
In 1951 the company launched into brewing beer and the first beer they brewed was the one in question ‘Keo Beer’.
From what I can tell the Keo group does not brew any other beers, although they do represent other brands in Cyprus. In fact they have several trading division within Cyprus which include beers & ciders, wines & Champagnes, spirits, coffee, water, juices, soft drinks and canned food.
Keo Group is a pretty big outfit in Cyprus with a very popular beer.
Keo Group Beers
I normally share some other beers from what ever breweries beer I am reviewing. However as I mentioned there seems no evidence that the Keo Group actually brew any other beers.
So instead I will share some of the brands you can get in Cyprus courtesy of Keo Group.
Beer
Just found out that the do another beer called Keo Light beer that weighs in at 3.5% ABV. Possibly a slightly lighter version on the Keo beer.
Other than that they also have Estrella Damm, Inedit Damm, Daura Damm and Free Damm a zero beer. There is also Erdinger Weiss, Erdinger Dunkel and zero Erdinger.
Cider
Keo Group have a range of the Kopperberg fruit ciders with flavours including Pear, Apple, Wild Berries, Mixed Fruit and Strawberry & Lime.
Final Thoughts
So the Keo Group may not actually brew many beers, maybe they will introduce more in their own range further down the line.
However their Keo beer is a decent beer, nothing special but an easy drinking refreshing lager.
If you have tried Keo beer yourself, then do share your thoughts below and let us know what you think. Give it a score yourself.
