St Bernardus Brewery is a brewery in Watou Belgium. It’s roots come from Trappists who moved from Mont Des Cats in France to a farm in Watou, Belgium in 1900.
They made cheese at the farm and in 1934 moved back to France with the dairy being taken over by Evariste Deconinck.
In 1946 Evariste Deconinck started brewing and marketing the Westvleteren beer under licence. This saw a brewing facility established next to the cheese making facility.
in 1992 when the licence was no longer renewed the brewery continued to brew beer, but now under the name St Bernardus.
Since then the brewery has seen a lot of change as well as a lot of growth, now boasting a brewery shop, roof top bar and tasting room.
This page will feature any beers that I get to try from the St Bernardus Brewery.
