Thornbridge Brewery started life in 2005 on a large country estate in Derbyshire. A small 10 barrel brew kit was set up in outbuildings at Thornbridge Hall.
The people responsible were Simon Webster and James Harrison. Employing two young brewers, the first beer produced was Lord Marples a 4% ABV bitter. A beer that is still in the Thornbridge core range.
The second beer and also one that is still produced today was Jaipur, a 5.9% ABV IPA which has received many awards over the years.
Because this beer became so popular and demand was high, the decision to expand was made. So in 2009 a new brewery was built in Bakewell, Derbyshire. This allowed for much higher production and an array of new beers arrived on the scene.
Those beers have grown to a vast range with several different ranges, including a large barrel aged range of beers.
In 2019 the brewery saw another expansion with a new canning line and a taproom. Thornbridge are seen by many as the first real craft beer brewery in the UK and are popular among beer lovers the world over.
On this page you will find all the beers I have tried from Thornbridge, the list will grow over time.
