Whether you mix a cocktail just for yourself or you regularly have get togethers that calls for you to put your mixing skills to the test, you will need some accessories to help you. The obvious accessory is of course the cocktail shaker, but there are many more to take into account.
You can of course buy each item individually, which means you will only buy what you know you are going to use, but this can work out expensive. Buying a set may be a better option that could save you money, we look here at the some appealing bar tool sets.
Cocktail Tools Set
It is always fascinating to watch a bartender mixing cocktails, so wouldn’t it be cool to be able to mix them at your home bar like a pro. We don’t always notice the different tools that a bartender uses apart from the shaker or may be the mixing spoon, but a cocktail needs more than these two alone.
The basic bar tool set would include …
- Shaker
- Jigger
- Mixing Spoon
- Strainer
- Muddler
- Liquor Pourer
These are just the basics, there are more tools to add, but as long as you have at least got these tools then you can mix a decent cocktail. The easiest way to get the right tools is to buy a set, which as I said could save money on buying them separately.
Another good reason to buy in a set is because you will get matching tools, and normally a nice stand or box which looks better on your bar.
There are literally hundreds of different types of bar tool sets available which can be a little mind boggling. I have put together my top picks which are not in any particular order, just a good selection of bartender sets.

A Basic Set
Kicking off I have gone with a pretty basic set that would be great for a beginner. This set is a plain stainless steel design that is functional and simple.
It comes from Finedine and consists of 14 pieces including an 18 oz and a 28 oz Boston shaker, a double jigger, a Hawthorne strainer, a mixing spoon, 2 shot glasses, a bottle opener and 6 pour sprouts. You also get a little recipe booklet that contains 16 cocktail recipes.
What it doesn’t come with is a stand or presentation box, but for the price you can accept this little downside.
It does not come with a muddler, although the mixing spoon is designed to double up as a muddler, but I am not sure I like that idea.
Overall, this is a nice little set that is very reasonable to the pocket.
Cresimo Cocktail Set
This set has fewer pieces than the last one, consisting of 12 which include a shaker, a strainer, a muddler, a spoon, a double jigger, a wine opener, a corkscrew, 3 liquor pourers and ice tongs. These tools all fit in an attractive Bamboo stand that does look very smart and will enhance any bar.
There is also a little recipe booklet included and the spoon doubles up as a cocktail fork. Made from stainless steel, this is a good quality bar set.
X-Cosrack Bar Set
A rather beautiful bar set in rose gold with a black round stand that rotates makes this a very attractive set for your home bar. They are stainless steel with an electro rose gold design, which you are advised to wash and polish dry to keep them looking their best.
This is an 18 piece that includes a 24 oz shaker, a muddler, a strainer, a mixing spoon, 5 liquor pourers, 2 jiggers, a corkscrew, 4 straws, a bottle opener and ice tongs.
A little more expensive, but you can understand why when you compare.
Highball And Chaser Bar Set
If you want something a little different, then this Highball and Chaser bar set is perfect with its polished gunmetal effect mirror finish and simple design black bamboo stand.
This stylish set comes with a Boston shaker, a Hawthorne strainer, a mesh strainer, a corkscrew, a lemon twist/zester, a mixing spoon, a muddler, a bar knife, 2 pourers, a double jigger and an ice scoop. There is a recipe booklet included too.
This is a good quality bar set that is popular with a 4.8 out 5 star rating.
Mixology Bartender Kit
A simple and clutter free design, this bar set by mixology and Craft is a real winner, the quality just oozes from it. At only 10 pieces it is not the biggest of sets, but includes the basics which are a 24 oz shaker with a built in strainer, a muddler, a Hawthorne strainer, a mixing spoon, a double jigger, ice tongs, 2 pourers and a corkscrew which is double lever that makes it easier to withdraw the cork.
This all fits neatly into the very stylish bamboo stand that will not take up too much room. Again this is a very popular set that comes in at another high 4.8 out of 5 stars.
Royale Mix Bar Set
We have had sleek and stylish, now we have a rustic bar set from Royale Mix, which by the way is still beautiful. Inspired by old whiskey crates the stand looks great and is made from acacia wood as is the muddler that comes with this set, and treated with natural food grade mineral oil.
This set contains 11 pieces which consist of a beautiful highly polished shaker, an acacia wood muddler, a strainer, 2 jiggers, 2 pourers, a mixing spoon, a corkscrew and ice tongs. The set also includes a set of 25 nifty cocktail recipes cards which are as pleasing to the eye as the set itself.
A real contender for any home bar.
Mixology Bar Set
Talking of contenders, this set is right up there. It is another set from Mixology and Craft and boasts very sleek gun metal black tools, with a rustic stand, a bit like the previous Royale Mix set. Another similarity is that is consists of 11 pieces which include a stylish shaker, a muddler, a mixing spoon, 2 pourers, 2 jiggers, a strainer, a corkscrew, ice tongs and of course the rustic wooden stand.
This can stand on the bar top, or you can wall mount this unit saving space and keeping things neat and tidy. It’s a popular set that has clocked up a lot of reviews and scores a high 4.8 stars.
Barillio Bar Organizer
Here is something a little different, like the previous one this set can be wall mounted, but that is where the similarity ends. There is no wooden stand, instead a canvas organizer that has marked pockets and straps for all the different bar tending tools you will need.
Made from a sturdy canvas and with a detachable bag that also has marked pockets and straps for your bar tools means you can go mobile with your bartenders kit.
The tools included with this set are a Boston shaker, a double jigger, a Hawthorne strainer, a julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer, a muddler, a mixing spoon, a corkscrew, a citrus squeezer, a zester, a peeler, 3 liquor pourers, an ice pick and ice tongs. There is also a booklet with some recipes and a Barillio e book called Happy Hour.
This set is a neat way of storing all your cocktail tools without the need to use up counter space, as long as you have space on the wall, then it is worth considering
Soing Bar Set
The Soing 11 piece bar set looks great, the tools are a matt black and just look really luxurious, although this set can be had in Rose Copper, Gold or Silver. Apart from the black tools, you also get a nicely designed wooden stand as well as a velvet carry bag to transport your kit.
The tools consist of a 19 oz shaker, a muddler, a double jigger, a corkscrew, 2 pourers, mesh strainer and a Hawthorne Strainer, a mixing spoon and some ice tongs, as well as a recipe booklet.
If you like black then this set may well be the one for you, it will look great on any bar or counter.
Godinger Barware Set
The Godinger barware set stands out from the crowd with its copper and silver blends and simply looks beautiful. It is only a 9 piece set, but still has the essentials and comes with a cool ice bucket too.
The tools included are a Shaker, a jigger, a strainer, a bottle opener and ice tongs. There is a metal stand for the tools, as well as a tray and ice bucket.
This set is probably not as functional as the others featured here, but it just looks good, and it includes an ice bucket.
The Best Bar Set
Out of these 10 bar sets which one is the best?
It depends, it’s a personal choice, they are all of decent quality, they all look good, some better than others, but they are all great bar sets. I think the favorite for me is the Soing bar set, mainly because I think it looks so good in the matt black.
The Barillio Bar Organizer is probably the most functional and the Godinger Barware Set the least functional. They all have a lot of good reviews and all have close to 5 stars.
