The Welsh Cockney pub shed is now over 3 years old, so it is time for the annual update on how it has developed over the past year.
The pub shed is still a fun place to enjoy and entertain since its build in 2023. It develops more and more as time goes by, whether we change something or add something.
So Here is what we have changed or added between May 2025 and May 2026.

A Recap May 2023
It seems like an age ago now when I first decided to build a pub shed. So in May 2023 I set about halving my back lawn to accommodate my pub shed vision.
The beginning of May was the digging up of the lawn and leveling the ground. Instead of a concrete base I decided on a gravel grid for the pub shed to sit on, and a decking built in front of it.
The middle of May my cabin was delivered and I wasted no time in building it. Log cabins are very easy to build, so it didn’t take long.
Now I had an empty cabin, what next?
First Year Pub Shed Development
So I have a blank canvas, and my first job is to build a bar. This is the focal point of any pub, so it needed to be substantial. I decided on an L-Shaped bar and the materials I had to work with were pallets and some scaffold boards.
Once completed I built a back bar from scrap wood, and the a decking area outside the front of the cabin. Then I treated the outside of the cabin with a good quality wood treatment.
I had electrics installed and then set up WIFI for music and TV.
I installed my old dartboard, stocked the back bar with spirits and filled a Husky fridge with beer. I added a Welsh Cockney sign outside the front or the pub shed. Then built an L-shaped bench seat and had upholstery made to fit.
The next thing I purchased was a couple of swivel bar stools, which are comfortable and look good too.
I purchased a Tablet and connected it to a set of speakers which now serves as a sound system.
I bought an ice machine for those get togethers with family and friends, a good investment.
Then I decided to buy a second hand fridge and convert it into a fermentation unit so I could brew beer and keep it at the right temperature while fermenting. I also bought a beer engine and beer line and set up my own draught beer system.
During the first year we began to add pub signs, pictures, friends signatures on the doors, a beer mat collection and collect beer cans and bottles which sit on shelves. We also started to add business cards and concert tickets to a section of a wall. As well as adding foreign currency notes to one of the ceiling beams.
The first year saw our pub shed really start to take shape.
Second Year Pub Shed Development
After the first year anniversary which saw our pub shed developing well, the first upgrade was a TV. A TV on a wall mounted bracket is not cheap, but well worth the investment.
More names were added to the doors from visitors, our friends helped in building our beer mat collection from places they visited.
I fitted a dartboard light, which does make a difference, although it hasn’t improved my game.
A visit to Adnams Brewery provided us with some merchandise, which included a nice long bar runner.
I purchased a can crusher which I fitted under the bar above the recycling bin. This doubles the capacity of cans you can get in the recycling bags.
We swapped out some beer cans and bottles and added new too, but our collection is now at full capacity in terms of shelving space.
Our collection of business cards, concert tickets and foreign currency is steadily growing.
But the last update I made in the second year was a set of blinds for the pub shed windows, which work well and look good too.
There are probably other things too, but you do tend to forget some things you change or add. But one thing is for certain, it looks great and is developing well.
Year Three Of Welsh Cockney Pub Shed

So going into the the third year of our pub shed, what have we changed or added?
As you would expect we have more names on the doors, more beer mats and pub signs on the walls. As we have visited more places, including breweries, we have more business cards, gig tickets and memorabilia spreading across the walls.
We have a Welsh and English flag next to each other on one wall with more pub signs and pictures above them. Plus a selection of old beer pump clips from different breweries.
Our beer can and bottle collection although a full capacity does keep changing, It has become a competition for the best designs. If we review a beer and love the design, then we swap it for the one we think is most boring. It’s good fun and the breweries don’t even know they are competing for a space on our pub shed shelves.
The bar stools I purchased in the first year unfortunately did not wear well, so I replaced with a new set. This time they are not swivel because this is the part that failed on the old ones.
I then added a 50 metre long set of fairy lights which snake up and down across the ceiling. These do give off a decent amount of light, which means we don’t always need the main lights on.
The three main upgrades of the third year are a personalised entrance mat with ‘Welcome To The Welsh Cockney printed on it. A Darts Oche with a cool dartboard design on it, as well as a set of window graphics for the pub shed doors. These look great and give it even more of a pub feel.
Again there are probably other little thing we have changed or added, but you tend to forget some.
Going Forward
Who knows how our pub shed will develop going forward, but I am sure there will be new things added or some things changed.
The only real plan I have for a new addition is to make a pub table to go in front of the bench seating. We currently have a small patio table, so I will build a table of standard pub size. I have been collecting beer bottle tops and intend to set these in resin for the table top.
Not sure how that will work out, but I will give it a go.
Other than that we will see what else happens by May 2027.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our pub shed over the last three years, it has been such a great chill out space as well as a great entertaining hub. We also use it for our video beer reviews, which is growing well.
All in all we are happy we invested the time and money in creating the Welsh Cockney pub shed.
Cheers!
